Moles (melanocytic nevi) are in fact a type of nevi on the skin, also scientifically known as melanoma tumors. Each being possesses melanoma cells spread evenly under the skin that determines different tones of skin colors. Heavy concentration of melanoma cells on one spot results in a mole. Moles usually appear at tender ages, though in some cases they can appear during adolescence. Moles can be spotted out on different parts of the body, prominently on open skin areas such as face and neck with large exposure to the sunlight.
